Enduring Love by Richard Jones

This is a sequel to Mountain Romance. People (mostly relatives) were begging to find out what happened to Mattie and Red so here it is.

Excerpt:
She stopped abruptly as they both heard the sound of a branch
cracking in the woods. It could only mean someone was approaching
their camp.
Mattie pulled out the gun she always kept close to hand and
they waited. It seemed like an eternity before she spied two men
shuffling toward them. In an instant she recognized one as Little
Wolf and without a thought she dropped the gun then ran toward
them.
Kena quickly followed and they were almost upon them when
both women recognized the other as Red. He was limping and
leaned heavily on the old man dragging his left leg which was covered
with blood.
“What happened?” Mattie screamed.
“Bear,” Little Wolf replied simply.
“It’s not as bad as it looks,” Red stated gamely.
“Liar,” Mattie said slipping under Red’s other arm to take some
weight off the old man. “Let’s get you into the cabin,” she said
struggling to control her mounting fear.
With the help of all three, they managed to get Red onto his
blanket and start a fire to warm the cabin.
“Whiskey?” Little Wolf asked as the women began to examine
Red’s wounds in the light of the fire.
“We have no whiskey,” Mattie replied thinking the old man
wanted a drink.
“In my saddle bags,” Red managed to say.
Kena found the whiskey and swiftly returned.
“Bear claws dirty,” the old man told them. “Whiskey to clean
wounds.”
